Once again, not a terrifyingly exciting evening, but one that definitely saw some progress. I was able to spend several hours out just dimpling and getting all of the parts ready to go for final assembly. I also spent a good deal of time just reading the manual making sure that I knew where everything was going to go and in what order. This goes back to one of my earlier lessons learned about having a rivet plan so you don’t get stuck and have to undo some of your work.
Here we are with the trusty ol’ DRDT2 (try and say that a few times fast…) dimpling away on the stabilizer skins. This was a bit tricky at first because there are a series of holes that you are not supposed to dimple along the way to leave room for the final attachment of all of the empennage pieces. Once marked, I was off to the races. I’ve got more dimples than… well… someone with a lot of dimples. Sorry – all out of wit after today. Insert your own hilarious joke here.
Total time today = 3 hours
Total time empennage = 61.5 hours
Total time aircraft = 61.5 hours
