Plain and simple: fall has been crazy. I have loved almost every minute of it, but it has been packed. Lots of swimming events with the kids, heading out of town for long weekends, and just the usual kind of fun that we like to have in the late summer and early fall as a family. It really is one of our favorite times of year. That being said, I know that posts will likely slow down a bit here for another month. I am honestly not too thrilled with my pace at this point, but I also do not have too much influence over it at this point. From the day I started work on the plane, I always promised I would maintain a good balance of family time and airplane time. I feel pretty good about the balance I’ve been able to strike so far.
Enough of the sob story and on to the fun part. I have been able to dedicate a good piece of time today on getting the trim tabs put together. This was more work than it seemed! It was a lot of precision bending of aluminum, drilling, match drilling, glueing templates to foam blocks and cutting them into patterns for rib spars, and deburring. It was pretty neat once it all came together and I’m looking forward to getting it primed and into final assembly.
Not my best picture, by which I mean likely my worst. This is just a pile of trim tab parts ready to be primed sitting on top of my new elevator skin that I have to begin working on again soon.
Heading out on a long weekend vacation with Anne this coming weekend so likely no material updates for a bit until after we get back in and settled!
