TRIP TO THE SMITHSONIAN AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM
My kids are on Spring Break this week, and we go on a road trip across the country every year. This year we headed east to Washington and Shenandoah National Park. Naturally, we had to stop off at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum! We did not go to the one on the National Mall, but the large hangar space our near Dulles that houses Space Shuttle Discovery. Among many other things of course. My wife and kids nearly had to drag me out of this place. Here are a few of my favorites.
It’s the easiest version of “Where’s Waldo?” in history. I’m the guy in the Van’s t-shirt…
Just something special about the bent-wing bastard.
The SR-71 Blackbird. What a sight!
Recounting a story once told to me about how the SR-71 would leak fuel on the runway until after takeoff because the extreme heat and pressure would ultimately be the only force that would seal the tanks. Truly incredible engineering. For the record, I have no intention to allow any of my fuel tanks to leak.
